Located at 8 Arthur Kaine Drive, Merimbula, Black Dolphin Motel is a piece of Australian mid-century history, designed and built by renowned architect Robin Boyd in the early 1960s. Rather than following the bold, American-inspired motel style of the time, Boyd designed Black Dolphin to sit naturally within its coastal surroundings. Native trees, exposed timber and local brick all helped give the motel its distinctly Australian character. 

Today, the restored rooms hold onto that original mid-century charm, with modern comforts. Rooms range from king courtyard rooms for two to a two-bedroom apartment for four, so couples and small families are both covered. The Black Dolphin Motel is more than just a place to stay. It’s a chance to experience a little piece of Merimbula’s history while exploring everything this beautiful stretch of coast has to offer.
